The ao is a mythical animal that is a cross between a fish and a dragon, and is the vehicle of Kuixing, the God of Literature. It is the symbol of high literary achievement. The sides of this cunning teapot are inscribed with fish, the Chinese symbol for the concept of "extra," for coming in first in the imperial examination and for literary success. When tea is poured from this pot, a dragon head pops from the lid and comically wags his tongue toward your cup.
